UNDP has been in Nigeria since the country became independent in 1960. In the last  programme cycle (2003-2008), UNDP provided capacity building and policy development support to the Federal Government and 21 states drawn from the six geo-political zones in four programme areas: Governance & Human Rights; Poverty Reduction; HIV & AIDS; and Energy & Environment.

The Country Office engages mainly in strategic upstream support and catalytic downstream activities, all aimed at enhancing human development and promoting the MDGs in Nigeria. Under the Economic Governance programme, (EGP) UNDP will provide strategic support to the Government’s fiscal planning to achieve medium to long-term development priorities. It has three sub-components: – Development planning and statistics, Fiscal policy reform, and Aid coordination.  

The Capacity for Governance Programme (CGP) is designed to improve the lives of the people by strengthening government accountability and effective utilisation of public resources, increasing public participation in governance through sustained free and fair election processes.  It  has three sub-components:   i. Electoral reform and Deepening of democracy, ii.  Public accountability, and iii.   Local governance.

1.)  Network Engineer (Wimax/LTE)

Job Objective
The candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting communication networks to ensure the smooth operation, maximum performance and availability.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Proven experience in WI MAX / LTE Radio Frequency planning, base station installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance;
Access Network performance measurement and optimization;
Proven experience in microwave transmission Link planning, installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting. Multiple vendor experience will be an advantage.
Proven knowledge of IP networks, Linux and Open Source tools would be an added advantage.
Minimum Qualification and Experience:
A first degree in Computer Sciences, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Information Technology with a minimum of 2nd class honors (Upper division) from a reputable university. A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar position with a proven record of success. Candidates with at least CCNA certification and knowledge of Linux and Open Source tools will have added advantage.
2.)  Electrical Power Engineer / Technician

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Excellent in theoretical concepts for electrical power related areas including AC, DC, generators, rectifiers, ATS panels, invertors, batteries, breakers, and load calculations;
Experience with power generators, ATS panels, inverters, Rectifiers and all other base station power related matters.
Minimum qualification and Experience:
A first degree in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering with a minimum of Second Class honours degree (Upper division) plus at least 3 years experience in power maintenance in an organization with proven records of success.

3.)  Customer Service Representatives
Job Objective:
Interact with customers to provide and process information in a courteous and professional manner, in response to inquiries, concerns and requests.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Basic computer knowledge- the person should be adept in using search tools, browsers, email features and CRM solutions.
Good written and oral communication skills- fast and correct typing, with proven ability to create grammatically correct responses;
Sound judgmental powers; ability to manage difficult customer situations, respond promptly to the needs of the customer and solicit feedback to improve service;
Knowledge of customer service principles and practices, ability to multi-task including ability to understand multiple products and multiple levels of benefits within each product;
Persistent and supportive attitude;
Ability to treat people with respect under all circumstances and to instil trust in others while upholding the values of the organization;
Ability to relate with customers and handle telemarketing;
Sound knowledge of telephone etiquette and excellent listening skill.
Minimum qualification and Experience:
A first degree in Computer Sciences, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Information Technology with a minimum of 2nd class honors, (upper division) from a reputable university. Experienced exceptional candidates with background in Business, Social Sciences and the Humanities with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position can also apply.

4.)  Telesales Representatives
Job Objective
The candidate will be responsible for communicating with potential customers through the telephone in order to develop an effective pipeline of new business and to achieve or exceed sales targets.
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
Self motivation and ability to work under minimum supervision; Ability to work under pressure;
Ability to work under different shift schedule (day, night and weekend);
Persistent and supportive attitude;
Excellent oral and written communicator able to interact with all levels of customers over the phone.
Minimum qualification and Experience:
A first degree in Business, Social Sciences or the Humanities from a reputable university with a minimum of Second Class (Upper division) plus at least 3 years sales experience in an organization with a proven record of success.

Successful candidates will undergo intensive local and oversea training in milling operations and qualify as professional millers at the end of their training. During the training period of about 3 years, they should be able to progressively take responsibility for various sections of the milling operations, from screen room to product bins and packaging, including heading a shift in the absence of the Shift Miller.
